Anthony R. Trahearn has been involved professionally in the UK Commercial Dance industry for 20 years and in 2023, he published “Commercial Dance: An Essential Guide” with Routledge. It is the first internationally published textbook to examine Commercial Dance in an academic context – analysing its past and present whilst cataloguing many of the industries iconic moments and choreographers.

Anthony was based in London where he worked as a dancer and assistant choreographer specialising in dance and movement for film, television and music video. Choreographers he worked with include – Marty Kudelka, Lavelle Smith Jnr, Fatima, Ashley Wallen, Paul Roberts, Shaun Cheeseman, Gary Lloyd, Wayne Mcgregor and Litza Bixler. Dance credits include international performances with artists such as – The Pussy Cat Dolls, Girls Aloud, Little Mix, Cheryl Cole, JLS, Liberty X, The Saturdays, Sade, Duffy, Dame Shirley Bassey, Kimberly Wyatt, Sir Cliff Richard, Atomic Kitten, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Leona Lewis and Take That. TV Shows – X-Factor UK, The Voice UK, The Brits, MTV Awards Singapore. Tours include – ‘The Saturdays’ for 3 years as Dance Captain, ’JLS’ for 3 years and both seasons of ITV´s ‘The Big Reunion Tours’ .

In 2014 he choreographed a film with a professional boxer, ‘The Opponent’, which was aired on Channel 4, UK as part of their ´Random Acts´ series. Choreographic assistant work includes – Movies – Cuban Fury, I Give it a Year and The Worlds End. TV commercials -´Just Eat´, ´Virgin Trains´ and ´Britvic water´. Anthony was part of the original cast of ´The Ray Charles Musical´ which resided at the Haymarket on London´s West End as well as Canada, USA and France. He was assistant choreographer on the first UK tour of Thriller Live! and also played the part of a Durmstrang student in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, working with Wayne McGregor as choreographer. , Anthony assisted choreographer Peter Darling in creating part of the original choreography for the boys solos, for Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace, London and was also associate choreographer on two Saturday night, prime time TV shows in Moscow, Russia – “Big City Dance” and “Clash of the Choirs” from 2014-2015. Originally training at London Studio Centre, he later complemented his studies with a Post Graduate Diploma in Dance Science from Laban.
