Preparing you for a Musical Theatre degree

Our Foundation Musical Theatre course will teach you the core aspects of musical theatre, including dancing, singing and acting. This entry level programme is designed to bring you up to speed on all the competencies you need to move on to a degree level qualification in Musical Theatre either at the IAB or elsewhere.

INTENSIVE TRIPLE THREAT TRAINING

Running for two terms, your classes will cover a comprehensive combination of acting, singing and dance.  During this triple-threat performing arts training you get to take part in both an ensemble piece and a live solo showcase, guided and mentored by expert professionals at every step of the way.

You will complete this course with all the necessary core skills and a stronger awareness of your own individual creative style.

How To Apply
AUDITION PROCESS

STAGE 1: Video submission

You will be asked to submit a video of a:

  • Contemporary musical theatre song
  • Classical musical theatre song
  • Jazz dance video
  • Contemporary acting monologue

STAGE 2: Live audition

If you pass the first stage, you will be invited to take part in a live audition where you will be asked to attend a:

  • Ballet class
  • Jazz class
  • Individual presentation of songs and monologue plus interview
Entry criteria

Successful audition, IELTS 5.5 or equivalent, and have studied at least one year of the national university entry academic qualification or equivalent of your country.

Yes, you will receive an IAB award certificate supported by a transcript.

Afterwards, aim high to either move on to an undergraduate degree or to look for a job in the industry.

The Foundation programme in Musical Theatre is an approved academic entry qualification to the BA (Hons) Musical Theatre programme at the IAB. All IAB Foundation students will be required to audition for this BA (Hons) programmes alongside external applicants.

No, to enter the BA (Hons) Musical Theatre programme you will still be required to audition alongside external candidates.

A three-year musical theatre degree is designed for performers who aspire to work internationally.
