Elena Cester

Artistic Director

Elena studied classical ballet with the prestigious teacher Maria de Avila. She obtained her dance degree at the Real Conservatorio Profesional de Danza de Madrid. She started her career as a classical dancer in 1997 in English National Ballet (London). In 1999 she joined IT dansa, with Cathérine Allard. She’s been a member of different classical and modern companies in Europe, perfoming the work of Jiri Kylián, Nacho Duato, Jacopo Godani, Jo Stromgren ,Rui Horta, Anjelin Preljocaj, José Montalvo et Dominique Hervieu, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano among others. She is a certified Pilates instructor and Low Pressure Fitness expert trainer, educated in Biology of chronic pain processes. Her teaching experience includes professional level of Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance, Pilates and physical training for actors. Elena holds a diploma in Educational Psychology. Most recently he has completed a post-graduate programme specifically designed for teachers of theatre and performance, from Rose Bruford College, resulting in a Fellowship to the Higher Education Academy.

Artistic Director

Robert trained both in competitive gymnastics and Performing Arts. In gymnastics he was “All Ireland National Novice Champion”. Following 2 years dance training at CSN (Cork City) Robert received a scholarship for 3 years performing arts course at Laine Theatre Arts. He has worked alongside choreographers/Directors including Arlene Philips, Peter Darling, Karen Bruce, Trevor Nunn, Mathew Warchus & Mitch Sabastian to name a few. Robert is currently a lecturer in dance, musical theatre and acrobatics, and foundation course coordinator at The Institute of the Arts Barcelona. He travels the world running workshops and choreographing for many schools. His previous credits include: Dance Captain/Resident Choreographer on Our House (UK Tour), Dance Captain/Swing Our House (Birmingham Rep), Ensemble in Chicago (Kuala Lumpar), Assistant Director/Ensemble in The Pirates Of Penzance (Kilworth House), Swing in Cats (Dutch National Tour), Rum Tum Tugger in Cats (Marbella), Assistant Dance Captain/Swing in Fame (Aldwych Theatre), Ensemble in Chicago (Larnica International Festival), Ensemble in We Will Rock You (Dominion Theatre), Dance captain/swing understudy Bobby C and Double J in Saturday Night Fever (UK Tour), Ensemble in Saturday Night Fever (Scandinavian Arena Tour), Bill Bailey in the final cast of Cats London’s original production (New London Theatre), Swing and Understudy Bobby C and Gus in Saturday Night Fever Original Cast (Musical Dome, Germany), Ensemble in Peter Pan/Jack and the Beanstalk/Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (E&B productions). Rocío Sevares

Musical Direction

Rocío Sevares is a musician and pianist. She has been playing the piano since she was 5 years old. She has three degrees from the Superior Conservatory of Music (Oviedo-Spain) in Piano, Chamber Music and Musical Language, Transposition and Accompaniment. She moved to Hungary and she studied as a postgraduate in Piano and Pedagogy at Liszt Ferenc Academy and at Semmelweiss College in Budapest. She also started as a composer at International Music School Prince of Asturias and premiered her first work in 1999. She studied Musicals Analysis at Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP), Piano Pedagogy at Alcalá de Henares University and Complutense University Madrid. She received lessons of the pianists: Luís Vázquez del Fresno, Kemenes András, Wagner Rita, Graham Jackson, Humberto Quagliata, Antonio Baciero, Dreide O’Donohue, Claudio Martínez-Mehner, Josep Colom Georgi Fedorenko and Luís M. Carmona, pianist and composer for Theatre Institute of Barcelona. Rocío stands out for her versatility and she currently works in many different styles and fields of music. She has performed as a soloist and in Chamber Music ensembles in Europe and Spain. She has formed a duo with the Colombian soprano Ángela Cayuela and Moldovan violinist Xènia Gogu. She worked for institutions such as the Orchestra and Choir de la Comunidad de Madrid, Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC), Madrid Conservatory, Education Institute of Barcelona (IMEB), Liceu (Barcelona). She is an accompanist for Juventudes Musicales de España and Codarts Rotterdam. She has taught at Santa Cecilia, Alcalá de Henares Music School, Sant Andreu Music School and worked in musicals and productions for Boomerang TV, Opera and Spanish Light Opera. Since 2004 she collaborated as a dance pianist for Royal Academy of Dancing and she currently plays for dance master class and courses with internacional dancers. She was postgraduated in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education by Rose Bruford College and achieved the status of Fellow of the HEA in 2019.

Joan Vázquez

Musical Direction

Joan has been working with full-time students in professional training since 2003. He holds a PhD in Literature, has an MPhil in English and Comparative Literature, a Licenciate of the Royal Schools of Music in Singing, and graduated in Piano by Conservatori del Liceu. He is a certified Estill Master Trainer of Estill Voice Training System. He combines teaching with his performance career in music theatre. His credits are lead roles in Hair, Mamma Mia, The History Boys or Merrily We Roll Along and his own cabaret shows in Barcelona, London and New York. He recently received the Barcelona Critics' Award as Best Leading Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of the artist and activist José Pérez-Ocaña.
