Welcome to Creart Fest

History of the Dance Festival
Creart Fest is a site-specific dance festival conceived with a vision to showcase emerging choreographers. Supported by the Institute of the Arts Barcelona, and in only four years since its inception, Creart Fest has quickly established itself as a unique platform for dance artists to produce and present their works. This initiative introduces a whole community of non-artists to contemporary dance and brings to life the hidden areas where the people of Sitges live and study.
The journey began as an ambitious idea to transform unconventional spaces into stages for dance. Over the years, Creart Fest has become a cherished annual event, celebrated for its commitment to artistic exploration and audience engagement.
The Event
It is crucial to highlight that the entire event is fully self-produced, self-funded, and self-managed by the artists who take part in it each year. This approach is particularly impressive and important as it reflects the resourcefulness, determination, and creative independence of young artists, enabling them to bring their visions to life battling each year with the scarcity of external funding.
Over three days, Creart Fest invites audiences on a walking journey through the less trodden paths of Sitges, illuminating the beauty in spaces away from the usual tourist gaze. Located at the former headquarters of Audi Volkswagen de Can Pei, the festival transforms the campus and surrounding areas into a vibrant canvas for dance.
As a guided experience reminiscent of a museum tour, attendees are led through a series of performances, fostering a deeper connection between the art, the space, and the community. From children’s playgrounds to university cafeterias, and ending with a grand finale in the IAB theater.
Creart Fest redefines the concept of a stage. With its popularity on the rise, the festival maintains an intimate atmosphere by limiting audience sizes to ensure safety and engagement, making each performance a sought-after experience.

The Future Projection of Creart Fest
As Creart Fest looks to the future, its site-specific nature challenges artists to engage with their environment, crafting performances that echo the architectural and thematic essence of non-traditional spaces. This approach enriches the creative process and offers audiences a novel perspective on familiar surroundings.
Expanding to include diverse and unexpected venues, Creart Fest aims to broaden its impact, showcasing a wider array of emerging talents. With a growing profile and increasing attendance, the festival is set to continue its legacy as a groundbreaking celebration of dance.
In our vision for future editions, we are aiming to invite professional artists to the festival, further enriching the diversity and quality of performances. Achieving this goal depends on generating more support and funding. By welcoming established artists alongside emerging talent, we aspire to create a dynamic interplay of experiences and perspectives, fostering an even more vibrant and inclusive community of dance enthusiasts.
