From Monday the 2nd October to Friday the 6th, IAB will host a special Master Class with prominent author and director Giovanni Meola. The Master Classes will be delivered to the students on the MA Acting programme and focused on two specific texts:
“The Man with a Flower in His Mouth”, a classical and repertoire play by Luigi Pirandello (presented also for the 150th anniversary of Pirandello’s birth), and “Love can be cruel”, a new writing by Giovanni Meola.
On Tuesday the 3rd, Meola will be guest in a Q&A session with the 3rd-Year Acting Students at the BA (Hons) Acting Programme.
Giovanni Meola
Giovanni Meola is a playwright, theatre and film maker, artistic director of Virus Teatrali Company for more than 10 years. As a theatre practitioner, he has directed classics by Chekov, Pirandello, Molière, and others. His works as an author include: “Il sulfamidico” (translated into English by Armando Rotondi, other translations in French, Spanish and German), and “Il giorno della laurea”, produced and performed, with his direction at the Italian National Theatre in 2016, and also translated into English, Spanish and French. In 2017, a volume of his theatre (7 plays) was been published by HomoScrivens Publishing House.
On Friday the 6th, there will also be a public staged reading of scenes from “The Man with a Flower in His Mouth” and “Love can be cruel”.
The Master Class has been organised by Armando Rotondi, Programme Leader of the MA Acting and Lecturer in Performance Theory and Story-Telling, in collaboration with Virus Teatrali and INIT – International Network of Italian Theatre.
