Frequently asked questions

Performing ARts Degrees

Our performing arts degrees include BA (Hons) Acting, BA (Hons) Dance, BA (Hons) Commercial Dance and BA (Hons) Musical Theatre. Each offers a comprehensive journey tailored to your individual passion and talent. Spanning three-years and accredited by Liverpool John Moores University, UK, these programmes focus on developing you as a well-rounded artist and creative thinker while preparing you for the industry.

We focus on helping you find your unique voice as an artist, fostering creativity and self-expression. In addition, our curriculum incorporates a multitude of performance opportunities, inviting you to explore and grow, ensuring a flourishing career as a performer.

Performing ARts Foundation courses

Our Foundation courses are thoughtfully structured to maximise learning within two terms. The performing arts courses are practical and performance-based programmes to prepare talented students with the necessary technical skills needed to audition successfully for vocational training programmes alongside a wide range of skills they will need for the industry.

The programmes are focused equally across the core disciplines and have been specifically designed to encourage students to find their own artistic voice while developing the skills required of a top-level performer. Students will also be coached for their vocational auditions.

On successful completion of the course, graduates will automatically be given a free audition for the IAB’s BA (Hons) degree programmes.

Performing Arts Masters

In an exciting debut, this year also marks the launch of our new Master in Creative Performance Practice (Acting/Musical Theatre), validated by Liverpool John Moores University, UK. This visionary one-year degree combines traditional performing arts training in acting and musical theatre with the study of the creative process of the art form. The curriculum includes shared modules encompassing creative performance practice, research skills, performance theory, arts entrepreneurship, and culminates in a final project in which students develop their own work.

Performing Arts University vs Performing Arts Institution

While the IAB offers performing arts university degrees we are a classified as a performing arts higher institution. This is because of our relationship with our validating university Liverpool John Moores University in the UK which is why all our teaching and assessments are in English.

These degrees are recognised across the world and so you have the advantage of obtaining a British degree whilst studying in Spain.

No, as we teach in English, you are not required to speak Spanish to join any of the programmes at the IAB. Sitges is also an international town with many visitors and residents who have limited Spanish.

We do recommend, however, that our students take Spanish classes in order to be fully immersed in the Spanish culture. The IAB organises group classes with a private tutor too.

You require a good command of the English language to be eligible for our programmes. If English is not your first language, you may need to take a separate English exam.

All our programmes begin in September of each year. The IAB does not have a second intake in January.

The IAB only accepts a small number of students into our programmes each year. The acceptance rates for entry to our courses is getting more competitive as we are continuing to receive more applications year on year.

We recommend you submit an application as early as possible as places can get filled quickly.
