Chiara Guttieri

Lecturer in Singing
🇧🇷🇮🇹, She/Her

Chiara is a classical singer, musical theatre performer, and singing teacher from São Paulo, Brazil.

She began her singing career with the São Paulo Symphonic Orchestra’s Kids Choir and Youth Choir. For her higher education, she enrolled in the BA (Hons) program in Classical Singing at UNESP (Sao Paulo State University). After obtaining a postgraduate certificate in Singing Voice (Vocal Pedagogy) from Novo Horizonte University in Brazil, she commenced the Master’s Program in Classical and Contemporary Music Performance at the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona, Spain, in 2022.

Her academic focus has always been on the study of female composers. Both her Bachelor’s and Master’s theses, as well as her repertoire, revolve around promoting the work of female composers in classical music.

While in the BA (Hons) program, Chiara became a member of the Youth State Choir of São Paulo, where she explored a diverse range of musical genres and participated in small ensemble performances, which quickly became one of her greatest passions. Later in 2022, Chiara was awarded a scholarship that took her to Germany to perform at the Luebeck International Choir Academy.

Following her first audition season, she was cast in the 2018 Brazilian production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s ‘The Sound of Music’. Immediately after the show’s run, she was cast in the stage production of the opera ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ by Britten in São Paulo.

Since 2018, Chiara has been preparing both seasoned professionals and aspiring musical theatre artists from various regions of Brazil, helping with auditions and performances. Currently she is a Singing lecturer at the Institute of the Arts Barcelona. Her teaching approach integrates her experience in the classical singing technique, insights from her own performance career, and a commitment to ongoing research and study of science-based methodologies.
