Ophelia in the Dog Days: a Masterclass at the MA Acting with Emanuele Tirelli

IAB is very pleased to host a Masterclass with prominent playwright and theatre practitioner Emanuele Tirelli, with our MA Acting students on the 3rd, 4th & 5th of October 2018. The Masterclass will be based on Tirell’s play Ophelia in the Dog Days, published by navarra Editore and produced for the stage by Caracò Teatro, now in its first premiere in English at the IAB. Ophelia in the Dog Days is a stunning monologue for woman, re-creating and re-interpreting the character of Ophelia – through the lens of eating disorders and after the experience of William Shakespeare, Jules Laforgue (Hamlet or the pity of the filial love), Heiner Müller (The Hamlet Machine) and Carmelo Bene. Students will work with Tirelli to interpret text, subtext and the relation between classics and new writing, with the goal of creating a mise-en-espace of Ophelia in the Dog Days on Friday the 5th of October.
