Luke Sheppard directs Chicago at IAB

We are delighted to welcome Luke Sheppard as visiting director for our MT3 production of Chicago.

Luke received a first class honours BA degree in Drama: Theatre, Television and Film from the University of Bristol. He is a regular final year guest director for the three year BA course at Arts Ed (London) and the MA course at Guildford School of Acting (University of Surrey). He received the inaugural Noel Coward Trainee Director Award and trained at the National Theatre Studio.
Luke’s directing work is frequently seen in London and throughout the UK, as well as in international territories around the world. His production of IN THE HEIGHTS won three Olivier Awards and a nomination for Best New Musical. The show also won the Broadway World award for Best New Production of a Musical and received nine WhatsOnStage Award nominations, including Best Director. THE SECRET DIARY OF ADRIAN MOLE AGED 13 3/4 received nominations for the Evening Standard Award for Best New Musical and the UK Theatre Award for Best Show for Children and Young People. Luke was also nominated for the Off West End Award for Best Director for CASA VALENTINA.
Notably, he worked with a range of data analysis’s and Sky Arts creating a television documentary and live performance investigating artificial intelligence and creativity through the form of musical theatre.

Education work includes directing two new Terry Pratchett adaptations with Youth Music Theatre; SOUL MUSIC and MORT (both at the Rose Theatre, Kingston) and the RSC initiative WRITE HERE, WRITE NOW WITH MATILDA (Cambridge Theatre).
