Upon receipt of the Registration Fee, you will be sent an enrolment pack as well as accommodation information and you will be given the name of a staff member who will support you through the rest of the process.

What We Look For in a Prospective Student

Enthusiasm for, and commitment to the performing arts or media

Through your application form and in your interview you need to show us tangible evidence of your enthusiasm for and commitment to a career in the media & performing arts. This can be shown in any number of ways. Indeed every applicant will be different. As an example you could talk about what performing arts activities you have done and are doing, you could talk about who inspires you, you could detail any research you have done to progress your planned career. We know that some of you live in cities with access to a lot of performing arts – what have you seen? Some of you do not have such easy access, so what else have you done?

Subject specific skills

Each of the programmes require a specific set of base skills. It is highly unlikely that for BA programmes or above we will accept students with no or limited previous experience, this is particularly true of the performing programmes (Acting, Dance, Music, Musical Theatre). We do not expect you to be perfect (why would you do a degree if you were?) but rather be able to demonstrate the core skills that will enable you to take full advantage of what we can offer you.

Intellectual capacity

The qualifications we offer at the Institute are at the same level as any other University or institute of higher education. You need to demonstrate to us that you have the intellectual capacity to fully engage with the programmes. This is normally demonstrated to us by your achievement in your previous qualifications. Mature students (over 24) without prior academic qualification may be given the opportunity to demonstrating their capacity through the production of some written material specifically for us. If you think you fit into this category please contact us.
